Skills for a stronger Alabama

Career & Technical Training — Starting in High School

Every student deserves a practical path to a rewarding career. I support expanding access to modern career and technical education facilities in Alabama high schools and strengthening connections to community colleges, employers, and registered apprenticeships.

Investment should reach historically underserved Black Belt communities and rural or low-income communities of every race. The goal is opportunity based on community need—not a student's background or ZIP code.

Modern High-School Training Labs

Support eligible funding for equipment, instructors, and safe hands-on facilities for welding, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, construction, automotive technology, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

Earn While You Learn

Connect high-school career programs with dual enrollment, industry credentials, paid internships, and registered apprenticeships.

Access for Every Community

Address transportation, tools, certification costs, and other barriers that keep students and adults from training opportunities.

Inclusive Workforce Pathways

Build accessible instruction and supported employment connections for students and adults with autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities.

Accountability matters: Evaluate local workforce demand, partner with existing technical schools, and measure program completion, credentials, job placement, and wages before expanding facilities.

A personal commitment

A Future of Opportunity for Every Ability

As the stepfather of a 26-year-old adult with autism, I know that the need for opportunity, dignity, and support does not end when childhood does.

Individuals with autism, Down syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve the chance to pursue their own goals, build relationships, find meaningful work, and participate fully in their communities. Families also need clear information and dependable support as their loved ones transition into adulthood.

Jobs & Skills

Expand access to vocational training, supported employment, and employer partnerships.

Housing & Independence

Improve access to supportive housing and community-based services that respect individual choice.

Adult Services

Examine disability-service waiting lists, Medicaid waiver access, and transitions from school to adult care.

Family Caregivers

Support respite care, navigation assistance, and long-term planning for families and caregivers.

Our guiding principle: Every person deserves respect, opportunity, and a meaningful place in our communities.
